Pipa's streets show the town's commercial, artistic and cultural sides in their decoration and exhibit exquisite taste in the items they sell. These include world-famous brands as well as more regional handicrafts and artwork from around the world.
For the more accomplished surfers there are shops with exclusive merchandise and beachwear normally found only in big cities.
Demonstrations of local culture are prevalent in the public practice of capoeira, zambê, folk dancing and street art. Pipa features delicatessens, cyber-cafés, an artisan market and other areas for local artisans to exhibit their work.
The times to enjoy this fount of culture at its best are during Carnival, June celebrations and Saints' days when there is a wealth of traditional dancing, parties, celebrations and devotions. |
